I copped the ASR-X when it first came out in 1997 and I'm still rocking with it (actually I busted mine and had to borrow Cee Brown's). I liked it better than the MPC even thought the sequencer is some shit. But I do all my sequencing with Sonar. I think Oddisee and YU both rock with the ASR and of course Kanye uses the ASR-10. I guess great minds think alike.
I lay vocals using Sonar 6 and it does everything I need. I know folks are Pro-Tools crazy but I'm good with this fine piece of software here.
